Editing and deleting an Authorization Group

Editing group settings

Open a group from the list and click Edit settings. Key notes for editing:

  • The Code (Acronym) field is permanently read-only after creation and cannot be changed.
  • Changes to context type, population type, and user scope are safe — existing memberships are preserved.
  • The Azure / Office 365 Group ID links the group to a Microsoft Azure Active Directory group for provisioning synchronization. The required format is xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx.
  • The Global group toggle is restricted to system administrators.
  • Default groups cannot be edited by regular administrators. See Why can't I modify some Authorization Groups? for details.

Click Save changes to confirm. Sysadmin-level changes may trigger a live coherence check before the save is confirmed.

Deleting a group

Open a group and click Delete group. The deletion confirmation page lists what will be permanently removed:

  • The group itself and all of its settings.
  • All active memberships — affected users will lose access immediately.
  • All responsible managers and delegates assigned to the group.
  • All references to this group from calculated rule sets in other groups.

Confirm by clicking Delete and accepting the final confirmation prompt. Default groups and global base groups cannot be deleted. If the group is protected, the deletion page displays an informational notice instead of the confirmation form.

Caution: provisioned groups

Deleting a group from the platform does not automatically remove it from Office 365 or Cloud Files. Coordinate with the relevant system administrator before deleting any provisioned group.
