Linking a provider

  1. Go to Sidebar → Cloud services → Social Connect.
  2. Find the card for the provider you want to link (Google, LinkedIn, or Microsoft).
  3. Click the Continue with [Provider] button.
  4. You are redirected to the provider's login page. Sign in with the account you want to connect.
  5. Grant the requested permissions (OpenStudio only requests your name and email — no access to files, contacts, or calendar).
  6. You are redirected back. The card updates immediately to show Connected along with your linked name and email.
Important: The email on the external account must match your OpenStudio account email, or the account must not already be linked to a different user. If a conflict is detected, you will see a specific error message.

Microsoft account types

When linking Microsoft, the system automatically detects your account type:

  • Personal — Outlook.com, Hotmail, Live accounts.
  • Work / School — Office 365, Azure AD, university accounts.

Your organization's OpenStudio configuration may restrict which type is accepted. If you see a "Personal accounts are not accepted" or "Work accounts are not accepted" error, contact your administrator.

Unlinking a provider

  1. On the Connected Accounts page, find the card for the provider you want to remove.
  2. Click Unlink [Provider] (shown as a red outline button).
  3. Confirm the action in the dialog.
Before unlinking: Make sure you have at least one other way to sign in (another linked provider, a passkey, or your OpenStudio password). Unlinking your only sign-in method will lock you out.
