What is a Career Framework?
A Career Framework is the formal job classification entry that links a person to a grade or role code within a specific organizational structure. Every active member of the organization who belongs to a structure should have a valid career framework on record. The Reports view flags anyone who is missing one.
Adding a Career Framework
- Open the person's record in Individual Management.
- In the Career Framework card, click to open the new assignment form.
- In the Role Type dropdown, select Career Framework.
- Select the framework code from the dropdown (e.g.
DIR— Director). If no codes are available, configure them first in the Configuration mode. - Select the Structure this framework applies to.
- Set a Valid From date.
- Optionally set a Valid Until date — leave blank for an open-ended framework.
- Click Confirm.
Active framework conflict check
When you select a structure in the assignment form, the system automatically checks for existing active frameworks:

Terminating a Career Framework
To terminate an active framework, click Terminate on the framework row. A dialog appears asking for:
- Termination date — defaults to today, but can be set in the past or future.
- Termination reason — optional free-text note (e.g. "Transfer to another unit", "End of contract").
Once confirmed, the framework's expiry date is set to the chosen date, and a career event is logged automatically.
Tip: A person can have multiple frameworks over time (one terminating when the next begins). The table shows all entries including historical ones. Active frameworks are indicated by a blank Valid Until or a future date.
