Areas and Departments
Within our ecosystem you can reproduce the structure of your organization through two different levels in terms of hierarchy: Areas and Departments. The structuring of your organization can be done through the Manage structures application.
You can consider Areas as a parent structure of a Department, both with their own leader/responsibles.
In some contexts, we refer to responsible for areas as "Manager", and responsibles for departments as "Department Leader" or "Head of Unit".
Each user can also then be assigned to a department, which becomes their "Reference department".
Where can I see my organization's structure?
Dashboard hierarchy structure
On your dashboard, when you get assigned to a reference structure through the e Structures assignment application, you can see the complete hierarchy tree from your department up to the owner by clicking on your structure in the Organization Details section of your profile widget
You will be provided with a complete hierarchy tree based on your role:
- The owner will see the complete hierarchy
- Area managers will see everything within their areas (departments and assigned users)
- Department leaders will see everything within their department
- Assigned users will see their own structure and area
Manage structures application
For operators authorized to use the structures application, you can also see a hierarchy tree on the first page, and also within every structure you select, with a scoped view.
Responsibles hierarchy
Within the same application, you can also access the "Organization Chart (Quick View)" section where you have an extract with only responsibles (Area managers and Department leaders)
What applications use my organization structure?
The areas and departments system is deeply integrated in the ecocystem, therefore you will see reference of your structure in most of the applications (from the IT Protocol / Documents management, to the Human resources applications).
Once defined, all the members of that structure will inherit certain permissions
What is the role and power of an Area Manager / Department Leader?
Each responsible has permissions to view and manage users that refer to their own area or department. In particular, Area manager have full visibility on all departments under their own area.
