Recognition is the formal step of confirming that a person's Digital Identity record matches their real-world identity — typically by checking an official document (ID card, passport) in person or during an onboarding process.
What recognition records
When you recognise a user, the system stores:
- Recognition date — when the verification took place.
- Recognised by — the personal code of the administrator who performed the check.
- Document — optionally, the reference to the document used for verification.
How to complete recognition
- Open Administration, Recognition and Registration and search for the person.
- Open their identity record and navigate to the Recognition tab.
- Confirm the identity check and fill in the recognition date and document reference (if applicable).
- Save. The recognition status in their profile will update to Yes.
What recongition options do I have?
You can either recognize users:
- With a Manual recognition;
- or using a registered document to validate the recognition
Note: Founders gets recognized by default once they create their digital identity
Why it matters
Recognition status is shown on the user's identification panel in the 2FA Authentication app, in Manage Memberships, and in various administrative views. Certain workflows (such as Digital Signature certificate requests) may require a recognised identity before they can proceed.
Permission required: Completing recognition requires the
manage_personal permission at level 1 or above. Read-only users (0.5) can view the recognition status but cannot update it.
