Every user account carries a status code (ver) that controls the account's state. You will see these translated into colour-coded badges across the platform — in the User List, Pending Activation, Manage Credentials, and Manage Memberships.
| Code | Badge | Meaning | Can log in? |
|---|---|---|---|
1 |
Active | The account is fully active and the user has a valid password. | Yes |
-1 |
Pending | The account was created but the user has not yet set a password via the activation link, or a password has not been generated for them yet. | No |
0 |
Inactive | The account has been manually deactivated by an administrator. | No |
-3 |
Closed | The account has been formally closed (e.g., the user left the organization). | No |
-4 |
Closed (Undeliverable) | The account was closed because the invitation email could not be delivered. This status is assigned by the service provider (OpenStudio) for example after a blacklisting action. |
No |
How status changes
- Pending → Active: the user clicks the activation link and sets their own password, or an administrator uses Generate password from Pending Activation.
- Active → Inactive / Closed: performed manually from the user's profile via Manage Credentials.
Cannot log in despite Active status? Ask the user to clear their browser cache and retry. If the issue persists, an administrator can generate a new password from Pending Activation (after temporarily resetting the account to pending) or use the Change Password function directly.
